Mariscal for Conran

I am reading at Design Week's site:

"Studio Conran has collaborated with Spanish designer Javier Mariscal to create the packaging for The Conran Shop’s Well Considered homeware collection. The range comprises everything from tables and chairs to kitchenware, including utensils and chopping boards.

Studio Conran managing director Sebastian Conran says, ‘It’s inexpensive and accessible. It’s not premium products, it’s the stuff of life.’ Conran adds, ‘We wanted a graphic style for the packaging that was like Muji, but without its uniform approach. We thought we’d have a bit of fun and put the cheerful into cheap.’

Studio Conran contacted Mariscal three months ago, and the Spanish designer has since contributed a range of illustrations and graphic images for the packaging, including a reworking of The Conran Shop identity. The colourful images are joined on the packaging by tilted typography.

The product range is going on sale in The Conran Shop from 18 August.
