Human Behaviour

Jenny Mörtsell grew up in Stockholm, Sweden, and as a kid filled drawing pad after drawing pad with mostly horses, boys and shoes. Following high school she studied printmaking art, then graphic design and illustration taking a Masters degree in fine arts from Konstfack University in 2004. Since then Jenny has been balancing a busy roster of U.S. and European clients who have come to adore the style of her signature pencil drawings.
Jenny's artwork can be seen in such publications as The New York Times Magazine, NYLON, Elle, Bon, Cover and Lula. She is currently based in New York.
This is her website but you can see her work here.

The right to free assembly & association
Peter Crnokrak has studied quantitative genetics at the University of Toronto but now, his primary focus is data visualisation, with a particular interest in the intersection of visual semiotics and data analysis. I strongly recommend you to visit his website and have a look at his amazing work!
This poster is part of a "five poster series that addresses articles from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights dealing directly with rights of protest and free speech. Elemental circles are used to express the essence of each article through the contrast of a single graphite pencil coloured dot and standard black dots. The graphite dot represents different ideas for each poster: eg. freedom of personal expression for 'the right to free thought…' variant."

Thousands of years old
Nick Howard is an artist based in Minneapolis U.S.A. For his work he uses pens and ink, creating dark figures without a face, alien creatures with hairy tentacles, landscapes smothered in grass and portraits of ancient men. The vulnerability, darkness, beauty and humor that is entailed in being human, are the main concerns in Nick Howard’s art. The portrait Thousands of Years Old focuses on a detail of the human face, in order to comment on the importance of the passing of time and our obsession with beauty.
This work is going to be exhibited in Anarchy vs. Order, an exhibition curated by the design shop, part of the Design Walk 2010 / Poles Apart.

Who Shot Rock & Roll
This picture of Mick Jagger was taken in Philadelphia in 1982 by the British photographer Michael Putland, and is part of the exhibition "Who Shot Rock & Roll: A Photographic History, 1955 to the Present", curated by Gail Buckland, currently at the Brooklyn Museum.
"Michael Putland was the official photographer on some of the Rolling Stones’ U.S. and European tours. He had access granted no other photographer and was able to stay in the 'pit' for entire concerts while the other photographers were asked to leave after the first three songs. Putland laments the lack of discrimination in the press today when it comes to celebrity portraiture. 'There is no premium for quality,' he says. 'I love photography, not the nonsense'."

Diary 2010
The Athens based design agency "the design shop" has just released a diary for 2010 with the title "Journeys in Time". For every month, a different destination is suggested. From Turkey to New Zealand and from Brazil to Cape Verde. The diary is designed by "the design shop" in collaboration with Konstantinos Trichas. Design wise, the diary is purely typographic. The typeface used is called Neutraface in its Greek edition by Cannibal Fonts. If you want to order the diary you can send an email here.

Covering covers
John Paul Thurlow is an creative director from London. When he is not working for advertising campains he is re-drawing covers of well known magazines.
As he says: " This is an hommage (six months in), an attempt to create cover art for every great magazine I own (+ a few I wish I owned). It's never a straight crib and it's not about perfection, the source magazines are simply a playground for my imagination...

Covering covers lets me combine some of my favourite things; portraiture, pencil sketching, typography, graphic design, and ideas - there's usually one in there somewhere."
